PERSONAL ENCOUNTER

WITH JESUS

15 MINUTES WITH GOD

As in any relationship, knowing God takes time together. If you are just beginning, 15
minutes a day is a good way to start. Find a quiet place and a workable time when you
can regularly be alone. Then…

Read (5 minutes). Find a book in the Bible your heart is hungry to read. Read a chapter
each day until you finish the book you are reading.

Journal. (5 minutes). After you’ve read your chapter, go back and ask, “What is God
saying to me personally?” In just two or three sentences write what you are hearing.

Pray (5 minutes). Talk from your heart about the things that matter most to you. You
might try following the well-known pattern of “ACTS.”

1. Adoration. “Lord, I’m amazed by Your….”
2. Confession. “Lord, I was wrong when I….”
3.  Thanksgiving. “Lord, I’m grateful for….”
4.  Supplication. “Lord I need….”

That’s it. Start short. Keep it simple. Be consistent… and patient. And God promises to
change your life.

But his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night.
He is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season

and whose leaf does not wither, Whatever he does prospers. - Ps 1:2-3

ENTER INTO HIS REST

What you will need: A quiet place. Journal. Pen. Bible.

Time Needed: 30 - 45 minutes.

"Let us, therefore, make every effort to enter into rest, so that no one will perish by following their example of disobedience." - Hebrews 4:11

We are told to make every effort to enter into his rest. In other words, DO WHATEVER IT TAKES! This is one of those areas that you cannot afford to NOT get ahold of.  The wonderful thing is that it is not as difficult to enter into his rest then you may have previously thought. Entering into rest is a significant part of the salvation to believers.

We have identified four simple steps. 1. Identify the problem. 2. Take your issue before the Lord. 3. Leave your issue at the throne of God. 4) Dream with God.

1) Identify the Problem

It is vital to understand that there is nothing that Jesus is unaware of in our lives. Nothing is hidden from him. We first need to acknowledge and identify our problems, issues, sins, shortcomings, disappointments, shame and anything else that is trying to separate us from His love and talk them over the the Lord. He is inviting you to identify and the share them with him so he can make the answers known to you.

"Don’t be pulled in different directions or worried about a thing. Be saturated in prayer throughout each day, offering your faith-filled requests before God with overflowing gratitude. Tell him every detail of your life, then God’s wonderful peace that transcends human understanding, will make the answers known to you through Jesus Christ." - Philippians 4:6-7

So take a deep breath and sit for a moment. Now begin to write down all the issues or problems concerning you that are coming up. Maybe it is only one issue at the moment. Maybe it is many issues. Just sit with Jesus and give him some time. Once you have written them down go to step 2.

2) Take your issue before the Lord

Now that you have your list in front of you the next step is to commit to sitting with the Lord to work out each issue [one at a time]. Give each issue as much time as it deserves and pay attention and write down the tangible solutions that begin to surface. As you begin to write down solutions that come to your mind meditate on the reality that nothing from Gods sight is hidden in all of creation. He is completely aware of every problem and every solution to that problem and the solution has a name. It is Jesus and He is with you right now.

"For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword,it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account." Hebrews 4:11-13

3) Leave your problem at the throne of Grace

Now that you have written down solutions during your time with Jesus. The next step is to thank the Lord for His provision in your life and do the hardest step and that is to forgive, release, and reset. You are going to leave this issue at the throne of grace and not let it steal any more of your time, energy or life. The enemy wants you to stay trapped by this issue. But your serve a king who is allowing you to enter into His rest now.

"Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has ascended into heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin. Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need." Hebrews 4:14-16

**Take your notes and write out your new to do list and start tackling the things the Lord identified when you spent time with Him. Recognize that this is divine intervention that occurred because you spent time with God to get set free from your troubles.

4) Dream with God

Now that you are free from your troubles it is now time to spend the rest of your day dreaming with God. You have just created a place in your soul to receive and walk freely with God without the presence of the devourer, we like to call the Promised Land living. Have fun and remember, life is a gift and the giver is good!
